Reducing our environmental impact

Reducing our environmental impact

It's now or never! Climate change is a reality whose impacts are now being felt in our daily lives. We have been challenging our models to move forward for a long time. And more than ever at this time of global crisis, we are working to reinvent ourselves to adopt and promote operating methods that are more respectful of the world around us.

Let's all make the switch to renewables

Limiting our impact means managing our consumption more effectively and choosing responsible energy sources. Since 2017, all the electricity consumed at our office and manufacturing sites in France is renewable and covered by guaranteed certificates of origin.

We are also proud of our teams in Belgium and Sweden who have also taken the plunge in their offices and distribution networks.

While this may be costly, it is a measure that is easy to implement. It supports the local production of responsible energy and contributes to lowering the impact of our activities. So, why hesitate? Make the switch!

Carving out excellence with wood-fired boilers

Renewable energy also includes biomass. Two of our sites in Brittany are equipped with wood-fired boilers*(installed in 2011 and 2014). It may just seem like a small thing to you, but to us, it means a lot! When you know that they can provide heating for more than 900 employees and saved 1,418 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions in 2019 (and 11,392 t of CO2 equivalent since they were installed), it makes you take another look!

A wood-fired boiler, a solar power station (such as at our Cap Rocher site) and a green energy supply agreement - these are all investments. But, above all, they are opportunities to wean ourselves off of fossil fuels. So why hesitate?

* They are equipped with a dust collector to reduce the level of particles emitted!

164
electric charging stations available for our cars in 2019

27 %
of company vehicles are hybrid or electric in France, two times more than in 2017

CLEAN MOVEMENT AT LA GACILLY

Electric fleet tractors have flooded our La Gacilly site to haul our finished products from Villes Geffs to our logistics platforms. Electric vehicles + green energy=

LessCO2@YvesRocher.fr

Thanks to better HTML coding for its emails, Yves Rocher France committed to reducing its newsletters' CO2 emissions by 10%. Now we can send emails with a lighter conscience!!

TODAY

Our energy reduction target was not reached despite significant progress (-7%). This is explained in large part by the integration of several new manufacturing activities in textiles that were previously subcontracted. Wow, when it comes to renewable energy, there's something to be proud of! We exceeded our target by 11 points (41%) across the group. Congratulations!

LOOKING TOWARDS 2030

Our perspectives for 2030 are clear. The group is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% compared to 2010. This is ambitious but achievable, especially if we manage to improve how we share best practices and fully involve ourselves in this wonderful adventure.
